DIE VORBOTEN? [The Harbingers, the eds.] What kind of band name is that? And what does “Aufschrei” [Outcry, the eds.] mean? I can´t make sense of their playful cover artwork either. It could also be a fairy tale album for kids. Whatever, into the player it goes… I get positively surprised. There is absolutely nothing playful or fairy tale-like here, it rather pushes forward with lots of snot and power. German rock meets metal, with strumming guitars, slamming drums, a really dirty bass and scratchy vocals. However, one first has to get used to this sound, soon, though, songs like the opener “Das Volk” [The People] or “Vaterland” [Homeland] and “Der Weg” [The Way} will get stuck in your brain forever. To be honest, I can´t follow the lyrics all the time because they are too abstract and partly too metaphorical. Those of you who like text interpretations will find a lot of material here. DIE VORBOTEN present with “Aufschrei” an unusual album that you first have to set your wits to. But it will capture you little by little with its intensity and snotty attitude.
