Fans of Finnish bands probably have come across the newcomers of Battle Beast over the past few months already. The band from Helsinki published its debut album Steel back in April but only now it has found its way into our mailbox. Live we have seen the band already a couple of times, at the Finnish metal expo and at the MTR festival.
Battle Beast stand for True Heavy Metal, musically they can certainly convince fans of Dio and co. of their qualities. On the mike thereīs, however, a very special surprise. As the frontlady of the band, Nitte Valo offers something that I havenīt heard before, at least not in that way. Rarely, you will find a woman who masters that typical male falsetto singing the way she does. Yes, there are a few notes that are close to being painful to the ears but I think the same about singers like Dio when they vocally go to those dizzying heights.
Battle Beast really managed to create something new, something that hasnīt been done before. One can only hope that these six talented musicians will also make it in the rest of Europe. People attending Wacken Open Air can already look forward to the festival because the band has won the Finnish Wacken Metal Battle and will play a gig there. Girl power a little different simply brilliant!
