Jorn is back. Barely a year goes by without musical news from the Northman. One can only say: Thank God! Cause he ranks as a living legend among the giants of the history of rock.
After he, last year, released his tribute record for Ronnie James Dio and was also present at the last gig of Heaven & Hell at Victoria Park in London, he concentrated on touring with Avantasia and did some gigs mainly with his band Jorn and mostly in Norway. Additionally, the workaholic tweaked his newest release “Live in Black” -- a live CD and DVD set, which was recorded at the Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg last year (2010).
The set offers the buyer a nicely-picked selection of hits from past Jorn records. On two CDs you can find songs like: Shadow People, Stormcrow, Man of the Dark, Rock´n´Roll Angel and War of the Wind. And as a special bonus comes the DVD, which provides the pictures to the live recordings. Once more it becomes clear that Jorn Lande is an exceptional talent of a singer, who can also convince live and by doing so can captivate a crowd of more than 20,000 people effortlessly.
Without lengthy announcements between the songs, Jorn guides the pack through entertaining 90 minutes. The performance also features two guitar solos of Tore Moren and Tor Erik Myrhe, as well as a drum solo from Willy Bendiksen. One really has to pay a compliment to the band, to which Nic Angileri belongs, too. The guys did an awesome job. As a bonus, the DVD also includes the video clips for “Song for Ronnie James” and “Man of the Dark”.
Unfortunately, we can´t tell you much about the recording quality of the DVD at this point because we don´t have it on hand right now. But you can decide for yourself by checking out the trailer. One thing is for sure “Live in Black” is an absolute MUST-HAVE for all Jorn fans and for those, who want to become one.
