The Swedish sextett Ciphәr System was unknown to me until now because I missed out on their debut in 2004. But even without the missing comparison, I can say that this constitutes as a gap in musical education because the band is simply awesome. Nuclear Blast got a real treasure into their chest; they have deserved a seat amongst the gods of Gothenburg Metal.
With their modern melodic death metal with industrial influences and a bit of electronic sound, they remind one a little bit of Hypocrisy and a bit of Pain. This lack of originality does not really bother that much. The atmospheric keyboard passages, which from time to time test the boundaries of the electronic band width, the rock-hard riffs and the versatile voice of the singer, Karl Obbel –who does sing with a pure voice between the growls- sum up to a round album for all of the fans of the genre, who are looking to discover a “new” band.
