When you compare their latest release to their EP "A New Hate Rising," which we reviewed in May 2010, someone could almost think that he or she is dealing with a completely new band. The cover artwork for the 2010 EP was very professional for a small Swiss band already but what these guys have delivered for their first long player is a real eye catcher, a well-elaborated piece of art.
Musically, the five guys of Hellvetica clearly have evolved. But they are still dedicated to a mixture of Thrash/Death Metal with Hardcore elements but also melodic parts. In comparison to the past, though, they have become much heavier and also singer Roman has learned a few more extremely evil growls. The rapid switching between screams, growls and clean vocals are particularly well done.
"Your Last Breath" also features more hardcore elements, which for me is a bit close to the bone. But I think all the hardcore fans out there will absolutely like it. Personally, I still like the melodic parts and the subtle guitar riffs and solos best. There could be quiet a few more of them on the LP. All in all, "Your Last Breath," is a successful debut work of a young Swiss band that would deserve a top position among the thrash metal elite.
