Most rock music fans probably know Jeff Scott Soto. Participating in countless projects, such as Wolfpakk, “Trans-Siberian Orchestra”, or as front man of Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, Journey or Soul Sirkus, he made himself a name in the rock scene. With “Damage Control” he releases his fifth album, following “Beautiful Mess”, which came out three years ago.

Vocal-wise nothing needs to be said about the New Yorker, he is without doubt a good singer. In fact he has no extraordinary voice but he knows how to use it the right way. On “Damage control” you can find a few easy going rock songs, but, in my opinion, none of them has huge hit potential; everything sounds pretty similar. As Jeff has a widespread interest field when it comes to music, reaching from metal to funk and disco, I would have wished that his album contains more different styles, too. Those who look for solid AOR melodic rock songs should be happy with this one. The record is also available as Deluxe Edition, which contains a DVD with three video clips as well as bonus songs.
