Hola! Max Cavalera and his men delivered a really heavy album, Enslaved. It´s good that one can´t see or smell Max when listening to the album because it could turn one off from the otherwise mighty creation. Brutal hardness is mixed with melodic and slightly oriental impact. It looks like bassist Tony Campos (Ex-Static-X) and Drummer David Kinkade (Borknagar) really brought in some influences. Six grandiose songs and three somewhat boring fillers two of which are joined in with guest singers- is the result. Dez Fafara (Devildriver) and Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) in „Resistance“ and „Redemption of the Man by God“ could have been left out. But let´s get to the six hard-hitters: „Intervention“, „Gladiator“, „Legions“, „American Steel“, „Treachery“ and „Revengeance". „Revengeance" is the last track and the most personal one in the slavery-themed album. Like the songs "First Commandment", "Pain", and "Tree of Pain", it´s dedicated to his stepson, Dana Wells, who passed away in a car accident in 1996. Mr. Cavalera sings together with his stepson Richie and his brother Igor, who also plays bass -furthermore, his son Zyon plays drums. As far as the production goes, there is nothing to complain. Nice, nice. The only minus points come from the fillers.
