The 3rd CD of this band from Down-Under begins in a quite promising way – the first song Litany of Fear gives you the impression that they go the Swedish Melodic Death way, influenced by Soilwork, Dark Tranquility or Pain, where they added a bit of Prog and Metalcore. Indeed a lot of variety – acoustic parts, sick soli, a decent amout of clean vocals in dialogue with evil growls (e.g. Biomechanical), dressed up with a powerful, edgy sound. The track Freedom turns out pure ear candy, only in the middle of Purpose they got a bit too creative – first I thought there´s something wrong with my player before discovering ”no, that´s the song”... Headbangers will enjoy the grooves of Vengeance and Transcendence. After a pretty Old School Thrash orientated The Warning you´ll receive a Prog-instrumental Purgatory, then a tough Discord and the Entombed-inspired Redeemer wrap up this CD.
Basically nothing to be wished for – I just miss a personal touch, a trademark telling me ”oh it´s As Silence Breaks" to have the Australians stick out of the abundance of similar releases. But I´m sure those guys get this done, too.
