“Till Party Do Us Deaf“ is Christopher Gould´s second album but he´s been making music for over 20 years. The album can be classified as Alternative/Rockpop but offers a variety of styles that does not get boring. Each song has its own sound from rocky guitar riffs in “Talk too much” to more electro like keyboards in “Cozy Black Hole In My Soul”. The verses of “Be King” have a nice reggae ring to it; the closer, “The Road That Lies Ahead”, is an overly sweet piano ballad. The different styles are interesting yet make the album a bit uneven. I enjoyed some tracks tremendously while others left me completely cold.
With this title I expected light music to make me dance, party tunes. While the songs certainly have the ability to worm into one´s ear and get stuck there as a haunting tune, the lyrics aren´t as light as the music may sound. They cover topics like miscommunication, growing up and reflections on the world and merit listening to the words and not just the music.
Overall, “Till Party Do US Deaf” is a very listenable album that won´t constantly spin in my CD player but will not gather dust on the shelf either.
