Already the intro gives you the feeling to be right in the middle of the new “Wrath of the Titans” movie. This impression of a fantasy movie soundtrack continues throughout the whole album. This soundtrack fades into the first song “Tears of Pain” where Ramon Sonato dashes forward forcefully and then changes into power metal style high-pitched vocals. I honestly have to say, his normal voice sounds great but this extreme high, shrieking middle part doesn´t work. Ramon tries to give as much variation as possible on the whole record, which works out quite well. My request to him is – please ditch this extremely high shrieking. The second song “Never Turn Back”, where he shows his dirty rock voice, makes the sound a lot more interesting and expressive. Highlights for me are “Chained” and “Remorse” because of the catchy guitar melodies. “Poison in Black” is the fourth release of the Italians and they should have owned their space in the scene by now. The band describes their sound as Hard Rock/Metal, the record label says it is Symphonic Power Metal, I would say no matter what genre you put Hollow Haze into, there should be at least one song for everybody, because the record is diversified and musically as well as vocally worth to be listened to.
