Zico Chain are from London. Recently, they were on the road as a support band for Heaven´s Basement and Halestorm and this is where they presented songs off their latest album to a wider audience.
The album itself is a well-done through and through. It offers a nice mix of hard, mid-tempo and slower pieces – and no matter which song one listens to, Chris Glithero´s vocals don´t only sound strong and expressive but also pure and natural. He has a very distinctive voice and, in combination with the lyrics and the varying musical components, it is also very catchy indeed.
The band manages to set up and keep up an arc of suspense in their songs, which is quite fascinating. Music and lyrics work together nicely and therefore create an atmosphere that doesn´t only make every song rocking, powerful and strong but also give the songs a touch of uniqueness. Also, it is pleasant how one can always hear a melody in the songs, no matter how rocking and heavy the song is, and no matter if Chris is doing one of the screamo parts (which partially don´t fit into the big picture of a song) or is singing in a very touching way – a melody to go along with can always be found.
Overall, the band created an album that surely won´t end up being forgotten and covered in dust in anyone´s CD shelf since it simply doesn´t get boring, even when one is listening to it for many times in a row!
