Does really every band that supposedly sets itself apart from others have to invent a new genre for their style? I think that`s something you should leave to the fans. In the case of Wildestarr, whose second release I present here, the genre is called Female Fronted Extreme Melodic Metal. Alright, alright. The female is essential here, otherwise you might think you have John Arch in your player – the likeness really is so big. It´s not just the voice but also the vocal lines are very similar to those of Fates Warning. The embellishing attribute “extreme”…well we could have done without it. It´s simply Melodic Metal and it´s really well-composed Melodic Power Metal; I might add. The first track “Immortal” comes across as quite hefty; as to the rest, there are nine more songs of the finest U.S. Metal with some Progressive influences. It´s hard for me to pick any favourite track as a recommendation - all songs are good from start to finish.
