Baton Rogue Morgue might be one of the most interesting bands Finland has to offer these days. With their styling and their music, those guys hailing from the idyllic town of Porvoo, remind one more of American Rock stars then of guys who live at the end of the world. Besides their styling, the band also has a lot to offer musically. Proof is their new release titled “Hat Trick”, which besides 6 songs also contains a DVD with two video clips and a live performance recorded at the legendary Whisky a Go-Go club in West Hollywood.

BRM´s songs are all brilliant rock anthems that immediately turn into earworms. No matter whether it´s “Hellride” or “ Tokyo Nights”, these guys know how to rock. Lee Angel Morgue captivates the listener with his voice which is anything but run-of-the-mill and the master of the guitar, Mr. Domino De La Rogue, not only attracts attention with his styling but also with his playing skills. Also the video clips are cool: there´s a lot of rock star clichés, hot machines and, of course, no rock star video can do without pretty girls. My only point of criticism is: I would have wished for two girls in the video clip who are as pimped as the motorbikes and the cars in the clips. Compared to videos of US rockers or their Norwegian colleagues of Chrome Division, the girls are dressed almost like nuns. I would´ve also loved to see more about the band´s time in the US, a little bit more behind-the-scenes material, perhaps? This would have been really nice because I think BRM are just such an interesting bunch of dudes. But otherwise the clips are really good. Bottom line: BRM are a band who should strive for the limelight more often and soon release a long player.
