I know about Luke Gasser only since the movie “Anuk - Way of the worrier”, starring Metal queen Doro Pesch, came out in 2006. When Doro played a gig in Pratteln, Switzerland, Luke was a special guest and together they performed a song. Compared to back then, this new record is a real surprise. I can´t really remember that the Swiss version of the Simpsons character Sideshow Bob had such a warhorse voice. Immediately with the first song titled “Retribution”, for which there is also a video as a bonus on the CD, the Swiss film producer and rocker nails it. While this songs really rocks the rest is quite bluesy, which is not really my cup of tea because, for me, it is a bit lame – but, still, the music is not bad at all. As a special bonus, there is a duet with Doro Pesch on the record. The song is called “Horizon” and is also one of the rockier songs on the record. As a side note, the second part of Anuk, which should be released soon, will feature Doro again. “Retribution”, ”Vivid Wind” and “Horizon” are definitely my favorites on the album. This record deserves a place in every old school rock lover´s record shelf.
