For fans of Savatage who were turned off by the symphonic direction that started with „Streets, A Rock Opera“, but enjoyed the more heavy stuff,”, Doctor Butcher is a release that could easily have come out between “Hall Of The Mountain King” and “Hand Full Of Rain”. Jon Oliva regained the aggressive, heavy side of his vocal presentation that he lost in his last years during Savatage. This 1994 debut is now re-released as a re-mastered Double Digipack CD including a bonus CD with demo and unreleased tracks. For those who missed this the first time around, this is definitely worth a listen and for those who did by this the first time, the bonus disc and updated, re-mastered sound makes it worth buying again.
