The guys of The Dark Unspoken are already around for a while. Even though the current line-up plays together only since 2012, the project itself exists since 1997. I honestly have to say that I don´t really feel at home in the genre of Electro-Dark Wave. I sometimes listen to Zeromancer or Mortiis but they can´t really be put into that genre. About the album: at first, I thought ok, it´s an instrumental record but, luckily, I was proven wrong with the second song - otherwise I would have thought I´m running through the worlds of (Disney science fiction movie) Tron and I will end up as a deleted program. As the info text tells me, with their lyrics the band would like to address situations in life, starting from birth and ending in death… Well, are you really doing that if you repeat the same lyrics over and over again? I know that this is common practice in the Wave scene but that is also exactly the reason why I´m not a fan of that music. But what I can say for sure is that the songs from The Dark Unspoken have a great beat, are great to dance to and, taken as a whole, they create a harmonious overall picture. There are better bands in this genre but for fans of this kind of music, “Beyond your Control” should be pretty interesting.
