The Subsonics are another one of those bands that come across as very retro. The usual suspects from The Stones, to the Kinks to Lou Reed are unscrupulously quoted on „Die Bobby Die“. Still, it sounds good and not over the top, and surprise, surprise, somewhere far away you can hear a hint of an own sound. And since this is already the Subsonics' sixth release, you can't really accuse them of jumping on the retro bandwagon. No, this trio from Atlanta provides the listener with 34 minutes of entertainment and the joy of some good old-fashioned guitar music. Nothing new, but nonetheless good.
