Slegest is the solo project of former Vreid guitarist Ese. Formed in 2010, it was the intention of Ese to create Black Sabbath inspired music with harsh vocals. An idea he took further, developing Slegest into the entity it is today with its rock-orientated sound distinguished by a distinctive Black Metal edge.

Ese also recorded and mixed most of the album at his Systront Studio together with some parts at Conclave & Earhost Studio with Bjørnar E. Nilsen. The mixing and mastering was done by Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved).

Slegest is characterized by channeling Black Sabbath / classic Rock with a lot of groove, harsh vocals and raw energy – meaning, there is definitely no overproduced sound, it´s rather this pure “straightforward – live-recording - garage” feeling to it. And don´t get me wrong here, I am not talking about the sound quality but the overall FEELING of it. Occasionally they weave in a folk-ish tune adds to the catchy appeal of this debut record. Yet at some point the songs sound a bit too much alike to me – still, a remarkable release, just check the band website for song samples.
