This pretty young Swedish band, formed in 2010, appeared on the scene in 2013 via the “Grym” split 7” with Sweden´s SHINING. This is their full length debut album named after the style they are playing. “Alfapocalyptic Rock” is what those guys call their sound, which could be described as “Motörhead playing Black Metal”. Or old school Venom from a parallel universe, in which they have virtuoso musical skills... The band info calls it a mixture of “Black Metal with Classic Rock and Punk, topped off with some Goth influences”. Therefore, the sound is quite versatile: from rough to melodious and with a solid basis of infectious grooves, and sometimes there´s even some Alternative Rock feeling. Or let´s put it like this, I think this CD could especially appeal to people who do not like Black Metal at all. Because I cannot detect much of BM here, although the line up features some 90s BM veterans*: Pehr Skioldhammer on vocals and guitar, Fredrik Sööberg on guitars, Niklas Åström on drums and Jimmy Wiberg on bass, have been around the Black Metal scene since the early 90s, playing in bands like VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT. Alfahanne are quite entertaining and grooving and will appeal to a wider audience – therefore you can put this CD on at any party, as even the least-Metal compatible will not complain.
* “Alfapokalyps” was mastered by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studio and includes guest appearances from SHINING´s Niklas Kvarforth and HELHEIM´s V´gandr, as well as TAAKE´s Hoest, who features on the newly debuted track “Såld På Mörkret”
