The band When Icarus Falls formed in 2007 in Lausanne and did not take it too easy from the start. For two years, they worked on their sound, then they released their first EP (Over The Frozen Seas), signed their first distribution deal and toured through Europe. For the next release in 2011 (Aegean), WIF based their songs on the work of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, a famous psychiatrist, who described the five stages of dying. After an EU tour, it took again two years to release Circles - mixed and mastered by Raphael Bovey - according to the band info the direct continuation of the previous albums.

So, where should I put this Swiss band? The aggressive vocals are definitely Hardcore, the music rather explores the areas of calmer atmospheric-epic Progressive Rock, with some hypnotic groove... Or let´s put it like this, in case the Finns Callisto or Crib45 were looking for a Swiss partner act, WIF would be the perfect candidate. The vocals are a bit too much hardcore (literally) for my taste but otherwise it´s an EP which is pleasant to listen to – a good band to keep an eye (and ear) on.

Diego Mediano: vocals

Luis Cordeiro: guitar
Claude Humbert-Droz: bass
