Three years have passed since his last studio record but now Sebastian Bach is back with “Give´em Hell”. With this record, Bach goes back to his roots. Although the music is modern, as it was on “Kicking & Screaming”, the Skid Row legend adopts some higher notes again. There are more of those typical high screams than on earlier records. Bach had some help from his friends, Duff McKagan (Velvet Revolver, Guns N´Roses), John 5 (M. Manson, Rob Zombie), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Devin Bronson (Pink) and Bobby Jarzombek (Halford, Riot). The album is easy on the ear even though, after the first few listens, it sounds a bit too smooth. There are no obvious rough edges, you have to actively look for them. I mainly miss Bach´s normal singing voice because I don´t really like his high squeaking. Occasionally, he does use his deep voice; too rarely, in my opinion as it sound better than ever. I´m not getting any kick out of this record, although there is no doubt that Bach is a highly gifted musician. For me, there are only one or two highlights on this album. Push Away is one such highlight, even though, his high notes are very close to intolerable. Nevertheless, it´s a very beautiful song. Fans who like Bach´s high voice will certainly love “Give´em Hell”; those who liked his last record will most likely struggle with it.
