In just a few days, the Swedish guys and girl will release their 5th album in the past 11 years. Despite their constant touring, the band manages to record great albums every other year. And 2014 is one of those years. Already the opener “Food For Worms” is a real bulldozer. The riffs are chainsaws, the melodies well-done and the energy level is staggeringly high – mostly due to Liv Jagrell´s vocal performance. The following “Chaos Royal” and “Au Revoir” are in the same league. “Desert Queen” is a bit less spectacular but it´s a great song to take a deep breath, making it an important song for the dynamics of the album. Also the second half of the album is state-of-the-art: “Stones Thrown” and the cool “Ruled By None” are first-class neckbreakers. “The Jinx”, enhanced with string arrangements, is another slow song, adding diversity to the record - just like “Count Me Out”. The finishing “Sail North” is a sing-along gem. In addition to the great songs, the album shines with a superb production: powerful but always clear. So both thumbs up - for me a candidate for Album of the Year!
