Dutch gothic metal is, at the latest since the commercial success of Within Temptation, on the rise. However, Elizium have only little in common with their chart-storming fellow countrymen. The only parallel is their love of gloomy, epic music. In contrast to all those WT and Nightwish copyists a man is singing with Elizium. The songs turned out a bit slower as with the competitors because they are mainly in the middle to slow tempo range (exception: the great „Rape Of Creed“). At the beginning of the record the fivesome know how to convince with songs like „Moonlight Haze“ and „Frailty“ which come across melodic and well-done. In the second half, however, the songs become more and more uninspired. Hardly any tempo variations, keyboard glue over almost every part and predictable songs. Too bad; good beginning, strong decrease!
