You have to smuggle a recorder in the rehearsal place of an average band and wait for the things to come. The result is “If Thine Enemy Hunger” of the Indie Rockers Jucifer. This record really sounds like a demo-tape, that has been produced with great listlessness and in dopey condition.
Almost all songs go on the nerves by means of monotony, which is often mixed with disharmonic sounds and whimpering singing. Negative example: “Hennin Hardine”, which not only shows the limited volume of singer Amber Valentine´s voice, but also that wrong sounds don´t make a creative songwriter of someone. In the chorus the voice acrobatic raises to a whining, which almost makes triggers sympathy. Also “Antietam” goes in the same direction. The chorus is made up of ear-splitting howling and screaming, that causes tears in the audience´s eyes. If it´s due to sympathy or amusement depends on the listener. A light in the darkness is the mid-tempo track “Lucky Ones Burn”, of which the riffs as well as the collaboration between Amber and her guys are alright. This composition possibly reminds someone of Nirvana.
But one songs does not make a good album. And due to the cause that the rest of this CD is just meandering along with interruptions by the creepy choruses or the scary sound combinations, this album is not to be recommended.
