In the introduction must be said that this record is made up only of cover versions. Front man Stephan Groth wanted to bring his musical roots nearer to his fans. These roots consist of well-known interprets such as The Cure (“A Strange Day”), U2 (“Who´s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses”) and New Order (“Bizarre Love Triangle”). Moreover, there are also new interpretations of the Metallica-songs “Fade To Black” and “Nothing Else Matters”. In some titles the Norwegians had to pack out all their electro stuff, other songs sounded already originally like the new arrangements, like OMD´s “Electricity”. The Limited Edition of “Sonic Diary” includes also a bonus EP with mostly unreleased remixes of Blackmail-, Mesh- and Cyberpunk-songs.
Due to the fact that Apoptygma Berzerk is an Electro-project this record will not please everybody. But those who already liked the music of the guys from Norway will also love this new album.
