The demo of The Pale Fall contains three tracks, which are situated anywhere between gothic metal and depressive dark pop. The opener “We Lay In The Moment” is more or less monotone, but nevertheless moving, because the singing of Paul Kearns is full of emotion and fits well to the soft guitar sounds. The following numer “The Sweet Breath Of Life Sleeps” begins with a quite interesting intro and by means of the flute sounds and the better than average melody is also a good song. The last track “The Lone Guard” is so to speak the motto of the preceding songs. All in all the self-made demo is not bad at all, but unfortunately a bit boring. The four guys made it themselves, because they don’t have a label, which is kind of puzzling due to the fact that there are other, and much worse, bands which do have a label. Whatever, with this demo The Pale Fall prove that they own a good talent, which can hopefully be enjoyed on a whole album in some time.
