Right from the start I have to admit to be a fan of this band, and for quite a long time. Therefore the only objectivity I can offer is keeping my praise under control... The fact that the number of STS fans is growing, their switch to a bigger label and their first Europe tour with Moonsorrow (check STALKER tour dates!) might prove that I am not quite alone with my opinion...

For all those who don´t know Swallow The Sun – well, just imagine My Dying Bride and Amorphis would try to write songs for In Flames. That means, dark melancholic Songs with bombastic riffs, a mixture of Death Metal and clean vocals and incredibly catchy tunes you cannot get out of your head...

Their third CD is a little bit more up-tempo in comparison with the previous, slightly too epic-gloomy album „Ghosts Of Loss“. The opener „Hope“ shows the band´s development, singer Mikko explores new vocal areas, more accessible or commercial sound – washing out Doom and adding a fragrance of Gothenburg, yet without conditioner, because „These Hours Of Despair“ or „No Light, No Hope“ are pretty rough, and also the ballad „Too Cold For Tears“ sounds really mean. These guys from Jyväskylä just know how to mix Metal with delicacy, just check out „The Justice Of Suffering“with Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) as guest vocalist, „The Empty Skies“ and „Don´t Fall Asleep“. The miniature symphony „Doomed To Walk The Earth“ concludes an album that hopefully opens a way for the band to the Metal top league!
