The Dutch Metallers´ third studio album, and according to the band´s own words, the most sophisticated one so far. Before achieving such a high level of satisfaction, Autumn has gone through several line-up changes and quite gloomy times, almost broke up, but overcoming this dark period, they proudly reflect their new hope and bright outlook in “My New Time”. The title so simple and so self-explanatory also holds the main characteristic about Autumn itself: The clear and fresh vocals are reassuring, Nienke sings so clean and blissfully natural, unlike many opera-like vocalists from the same country. Autumn on the whole sounds just relaxed and down-to-earth, so you can easily relate to those songs, sing along, understand the lyrics and all of their raised issues. And this simplicity does not lower the musical quality, quite the opposite, it gives the sound personality and an individual trade-mark.
For me, the album is somehow a little bit too peaceful, it does not have that little something which would make me want to jump out of the chair and headbang, or tap my feet along when I´ll be listening to it in the train on a CD-player. At the same time songs like “Satellites”, “State of Mind” and “Blue Wine” are definitely staying in my current play list as a very pleasant accompaniment to the finally starting spring and warmer season.
