According to singer and guitarist Justin Maurer the new album of the Clorox Girls is „as delightful as bavarian beer“ and „more fun than a romp in whorehouse“ (see interview with the band). Well, this remains to be seen, what the guys, however, offer is surfpunk with 60´s rock´n´roll influences and a decent helping of French charm like in the cover version of the 70´s song “Le Banana Split” by Lio, which is sung in perfect francais. This all sounds like a risky combination but it works quite well. In about 30 minutes playing time you get 14 happy powerpop songs that make your feet tap along. When you, however, pay more attention to the lyrics then they don´t quite reflect the happy-go-lucky tone of the music – here and there the thoughts go a little deeper. All in all a way too short record with good surfrockpowerpop.
