Who has seen Mambo Kurt live, whether on theatre stages or festival stages, knows what you can expect musically from the man and his organ. There are hardrocksongs und popsongs of more recent and also former date, twisted from the master of the home organ through the sway grinder. On “Spiel Heimorgel Spiel” there are this time e. g. Billy Talent (Read Flag), Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit) and the obligatory Slayer cover (South Of Heaven) next to Tina Turner (Private Dancer) and Abba (Dancing Queen). But the highlight of the album is “God Save The Queen”, sung by Mambo Kurt’s old organ teacher, who with her 87 years still matches the destructiveness of a Johnny Rotten.
