The Underground is a location in a former industrial zone in the Cologne part of town Ehrenfeld. With its slogan "We deliver Rock'n Roll" everything is said, actually. Today Xandria with both Supportbands Mely and Stoneman played on their tour through the German language area; almost only English was sung, though.
The show began more than punctually. The club that can hold about 250 people had to be content on this Wednesday with 60 guests. And thus everything began quietly and almost informally. Yet the media interest was very high: Before the stage romped about half a dozen photographers.
Mely
Those five men from Austria began their gig with a swelling keyboard sample and with that for whatever reason popular back posture to the audience. The opener "Dead Shelf " immediately kicked it off and also proved the sound engineers´ homework had been done, throughout the whole evening. The volume was just put high enough, not causing any fuzzy noise in the ear the next day. Thank you for that!
Andy and Peter, the both frontman of Mely were not to be envied of course your support, however, struggled unflustered by her six songs. The reported Gothic rock been convincing. It´s had a little bit delightfully melancholy and very melodic in himself. What did not come away a harder pace signified to the quintet. With the final song " I quietly ask why " dismissed five likeable musicians from whom one took it really from that they completely immerse themselves in her music.
Stoneman
Quite different then the Swiss boys of Stoneman. Those guys from Zurich were so cool, you thought it would be snowing on stage. Above all, Frontman Mikki pulled off an extraordinary show. With his wicked self-assurance and his charismatic dark voice he impressed everyone. In addition he walked like a cock with his riding boots above the stage and used the microstand as a lengthening of his body. In brief: the nightmare of every mother-in-law.
Stoneman had the full attention of the Undergound for their ten songs. With their hard to describe mixture of Gothik Industrial rock and a pinch of punk they rocked the house and may have been for many the real headliner. Even a short guitar failure of Mr. Fly couldn´t irritate frontman Mikki. On the contrary, he had more time for his audience and let them know that also during the tour the punk goes off. The playlist featured "Devil in a Gucci dress" and the only German song " Who wanna fuck must be friendly ". A piece where audience and band accumulated to top form. With the remark: "Now you see clearly" and the song " Atomic of the Holocaust " the four finished their show.
Xandria
After that Xandria seemed pretty well-behaved. Musical comparisons, at least with the line-up, are inevitalble: Within Temtation and Nightwish. But this only for orientation.
They opened with "A new Age" and after that "Now and forever", "Emotional man", "Save my life" and "Snow-white" . Their music is well balanced and orchestral. Singer Lisa led the listeners with disarming friendliness through the program. The good mood continued, and the number of spectators in front of the stage concentrated, also the guitar work of Marco Heubaum was convincing with a fulminant presentation. Generally it was a very well co-ordinated show that ended too quickly.
After short break they played "Ravenheart" and " Black of Fleming " as encores and left their audience satisfied with 18 songs. It was unusual also that the band members did not disappear backstage but stayed in the hall for photos and autographs.
