The walls of Marx (smaller room from Markthalle) were covered with gloomy paintings, which well reflected the theme of the music provided by the Livia from Lüneburg and the head act, Eyes Shut Tight. Within Livia’s act one could see how vital the singer is to the band. The band itself wasn’t bad and has something to offer in terms of music, but the voice and general lack of talent therein was utterly boring and resulted in an unlively audience.

The situation got massively better when Eyes Shut tight - who was celebrating the release of their debut album “Secret Destroyer”- entered the stage. Their music is strongly influenced by bands like Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails without copying them. The voice of the singer, Trashed Soul, is gloomy without losing an aggressive edge. Their songs were catchy and tracks like “Die” and “Intoxication” are very likely to hum in one’s head for a while. With Mansonish stage make-up, white contact lenses and a keyboarder dressed like a caveman, the band looks interesting. The previously mentioned keyboarder got so into character and dropped his keyboards on the floor. Whoever likes early Mason and wants to skip poor rip-offs, should give Eyes Shut Tight a chance.

Eyes Shut Tight has been an exclusively Hamburg band, but hopefully they will be touring other cities and countries soon.
