The Melanie Bar was completely crammed when Koufax climbed onto the stage for their acoustic promo concert of their new album “Hard Times Are In Fashion”. You could really call it “climbing” because on that evening Rob (vocals) and Ben (guitar) shared in the true sense of the word everything with the crowd including familiar closeness – on the stage was only a hands width space between mics, bar stools and guitars. On the part of the crowd as well as the band the good mood wasn´t derogated because of the fact that Koufax were only “half present”. It didn´t harm the mood either that there were only 6 songs on the setlist because Koufax played in between 2 raucous bands in the Molotow.
With “Why Bother At All”, the first song on their latest album, they laid the foundation for a cheerful atmosphere that was kept up also during the following more quite songs. Due to the fact that the session was played strictly acoustic the two got more opportunities to show what they have got technically. The crowd was happy about the closeness to the band, the chilly beers and the relaxed music that nevertheless left no open question about Koufax´ stance on the American government. A good mixture of art and political engagement! Very cute was also that Rob´s hands were shaking visibly when he had to wait for a substitute guitar after one of his strings tore during the first song. No sign of airs and graces! So, altogether: short and great. And if already 2 out of 4 Koufaxes know how to convince then you should go to the concert of the guys on May 23rd in the Molotow. More –longer – louder … better?!
