I was really looking forward to this gig tonight because one of the support acts of Crimson Glory is very close to my heart. But I was also excited to see the main act. So let´s go to Z7 and pick up a dose of progressive metal.

Cirrah Niva

The Dutch from Cirrah Niva start off tonight´s proceedings. What you get offered on stage is, however, not very impressive. Apart from the sound, singer Legrand delivers the greatest show. He jerks and whirls over the stage but in a much uncoordinated way. No eye candy, at all. Mr Legrand should move around less in circles and invest more effort into singing. Cirrah Niva are really not my cup of tea.

Triosphere

The last time those Norwegians of Triosphere were here in Z7 was in November 2008, together with Jorn. Long time no see then for such a great band. Tonight Triosphere were allowed to play a longer set than before, here in Switzerland, and thus present a wide selection of songs from their last two albums. Besides their own songs, Ida Haukland and her men, deliver a great version of Deep Purple´s Burn, too. Latest after the second song, the power lady with the unusual voice had everyone in the crowd on her side. Unfortunately, Triosphere, this time, had to cope without drummer Ørjan Aare Jørgensen, who had to stay home due to a back injury. Anders Vinje filled in for him, he did a brilliant job. Traditionally, Triosphere played the song Sunriser as their last song, while guitarist Marius Bergesen plunged into the crowd and played an awesome solo. Once again a great performance and hopefully, it wont take that long until Trisophere will return to Switzerland.

Crimson Glory

I have to honestly admit that I´ve never heard of this band. The music wasnt bad but the vocals, I didn´t like at all. Those extremely high, squeaking male voices are really not my thing. But the about 300 gig goers seemed to have come almost exclusively to see this band and celebrated their heroes from times long gone. The masks that this band was wearing back in the day, have disappeared now. Only for the song Lonely, the re-emerge. For all fans of this band, it must have been a super gig and that´s the main thing.

So, this evening had a lot to offer but still, Triosphere were the absolute highlight for me. Because I don´t know any other band that has a front lady who play bass like a goddess and sings with way more ´balls´ than many men. 8 points for Triosphere.
