The story: "Jack the Giant Slayer" tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend-and gets the chance to become a legend himself. (Warner Bros)

How it was done: The hero and a princess, who tries to escape from a forced marriage, her father, her loyal guards, the evil finance, and his mate are among the giants the main characters in this movie. It was nice to see, that nobody tried to change the main message of the fairy tale this time and did only changes to the story which are not harming it. By adding a magical crown and a whole giant population instead of just one, the story changes gives the movie more options and keeps itīs core. The 3D technique is not too impressive and the animation often reminds one of video-games. The actors were well chosen and not only Nicholas Hoult is doing a great job.

Conclusion: "Jack the Giant Slayer" is a beautiful, somewhat free adaptation of the old fairy tale about Jack and the Beanstalk. The violence this movie contains, isnīt really shown in a drastic way, which makes it suitable for over 12 year old kids, but apart from this itīs a pure childrenīs movie. The 3D technology was disturbing as it wasnīt necessary and not too well done.
