How do you feel as founder of a festival that turned into one of the biggest Austrian or even European Metal events after 4 years of existence?
It´s cool that this event grew so quickly. We are a bit proud of it, but there is a lot of work to be done, and of course passion. Otherwise this all would not work out.

What has changed in this cooperation with Rock the Nation, in comparison with the former Legacyfest ?
Basically not much, we had co-operated before with Legacy Festival and Swiss Z-7 Metaldayz and the band booking, the common trademark Metalfest in different nations is the logical consequence. For promotional reasons and budget efficiency (Artworks, Promo, Website, prints, Merchandise etc.) this is essential, otherwise you cannot keep the prices low. And booking is easier, and it´s more interesting for the bands when they can play at 5 festivals. The national promoters are the same, my colleague Günther had been working at RTN Booking, therefore things are not much different to before; now I am also part of the RTN Family.

This time you chose Schloss Mamling in Mining am Inn - why?
There were various reasons, one was the camping situation and the long walks that was a major criticism target in previous years. We solved that, parking and camping are close to the festival area now, the access roads are better and there is enough room. And we are improving the sanitary situation, an important future investment.

Last time there was some criticism, partly without particular reason – how do promoters deal with that?
We listen to critical remarks, especially where there is a foundation for it. Feedback is always important because we want to develop and improve.

The billing offered legends like "Bolt Thrower" and "Testament" and also "Twighlight of the Gods“ - for many it´s a chance to hear songs of legendary Bathory live, others claim that Quorthon´s legacy is getting exploited. What´s your opinion?
I think TOTG are great, finally you can hear legendary Bathory songs also live, in a top line-up. And this is something that makes a Metalfest even more interesting.

Another often discussed topic, Varg, Riger and Urgehal are bands rumoured to be connected with the extreme right wing. What´s your viewpoint?
None of those are right-wing bands, those play Pagan or Black Metal, nothing more. We check out the bands who play live here, neither left or right winged bands would be supported here. We are not into political agitation at all.

We heard last year that all the bands gave only positive reviews, are you happy about that or is it taken for granted that everything is done right?
Naturally we are pleased to hear that. The feedback from bands is as important as the feedback by the audience. A huge party is born only when both have a great time, bands and fans as well.
