ROME could convince us of their quality with their last record. With the new one they have to prove if they can shine on. Well, they can. The Luxembourgers created something that reminds me a bit of DEINE LAKAIEN but it is more than a lame copy. Unpredictable in songwriting, at the same time traceable and exciting, the two musicians (Jerome Reuter & Patrick Damiani) do their stuff, not giving a damn to conventions. It is beautiful to hear catchy tracks like “Odessa”. Especially Jerome Reuter sticks out with his variable voice, he uses it effectively to save his spot in the limelight. Listening more carefully is useful here because his sidekicks are remarkable too. They play some nice parts without ending in chaos. Well, ROME surely a treat for genre fans.
