A remarkable output by this trio from Boston, Massachusetts! The opener „Nothing To Prove“ presents already a good mix of melodic Metal, very melodic, and Death growls: Catchy and appealing riffs, cool groove almost like a Stoner band... as if Chris Barnes and Kyuss would have done a cooperation, just listen to „Revelry“.

The band was founded 1998 by Brendan Roche (dr), Greg Weeks (b) and Mike McKenzie a.k.a. Gunface (guit & voc), and after a quite adventurous history BTSS remains a pure studio project that released another CD after a few years of silence. The band sounds as if they were from Sweden, influences of Entombed or Crowbar can be heard. The cover artwork by Paul Romano (e. g. Mastodon) gives a hint that this band cannot easily be categorized.

The only problem is that Gunface´s growls do not quite fit to every song. He tries variations, and you can even understand the lyrics, e.g. of the Thrash Metal track „I Die At 35“. Real heavy stuff like „Forward Thinking“ or „Everything Tough“, the Power ballad „Yawning of the Gale“ and several atmospheric instrumental parts before the Doom final „Monument“ the band presents a good solid piece of Metal worth to be recommended.
