After those early Finnish festival curfews not everybody wants to go to bed that early, therefore Sauna Open Air organisers had arranged an official aftershow party after every festival day at "Jack - The Rooster", this day with a KISS coverband and Reckless Love. From the latter I just know the band name, they seem to have a committed street team (that tells me “they are going to be my new absolutely favourite band”) - the club and its patio is overcrowded, the queue seems endless. When I am finally inside, the Finns are already performing... and WOW! The four guys from Kuopio smile non-stop and infect the whole club with a good mood, and even get fans who could not make it into the location and stand outside at the window, are rocking along.
Regardless of the small stage, singer Olli Herman is jumping around like a whirlwind and animates repeatedly to sing and clap along what the fans are doing the whole time anyway. To have another activity, he is changing his outfit several times, he later literally rips his white muscle shirt off to perform some songs "topless". Furthermore he presents his collection of stylish sunglasses. The band performs amongst others "Wild Touch", "So Yeah!!" and "Romance". While singing "Love Machine", Olli is either half-climbing the stage`s roof or swinging his hips in a sexy way. During "Born To Rock" he demonstrates us some funny aerobic moves. And when the crowd should sing alone and the result is pretty out of tune... Who cares? The main thing is that we all are having fun - and at this Reckless Love gig you have it without any doubt!
Concerning their music, Reckless Love are in a similar category like Steel Panther: tongue-in-cheek Glam Rock / Hair Metal. When listening to "Beautiful Bomb" I realise that I know this one song, thanks to "Radio Rock". After the catchy song "Badass", the ballad "Sex" and some bonuses the gig is unfortunately over – and indeed Reckless Love are quite close to become my new absolutely favourite band, they are at least one of my favourites now. Their street team hasn`t promised too much... Moreover, this concert hasn`t just made my day; it was one of THE highlights of it! As certain as the sun rising tomorrow, this won`t be the last gig of them for me.
