The Californian Y&T are part of the 70th founding fathers of heavy rock like Whitesnake, Nazareth or Van Halen. They stayed in Europe but relatively unknown, even if they could celebrate in the 80th major successes. But the guys are still rocking. Founding member Dave Meniketti (vocals&lead guitar) and his guys tour the world. Germany, Spain, California, Japan are currently on the program. That they are with their hits like "Mean Streak" and "Summertime Girls" at the Hard Rock community pretty wellknown, proved a good stuffed club (Knust). The preheater made the Hamburg rock band Kickhunter.

Kickhunter goes with plenty of stage experience to work. At least they were some years ago already occurred as the opening act for Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd. With a lot of fun they release good outgoing, rather classic rock to the public, driving, danceable and powerful. Strikingly, although in the background: A beautiful Hammond organ with its unmistakable mood gives the certain touch of nostalgia.

Sure, the music of Kickhunter doesn´t present a new invention of the genre. Everything that makes fat rock, although formerly designed by famous heavy rock idols through the decades, is poured into the bowl and served hot.

Just the right preparation for Y&T, who first time in Hamburg play as a headliner - as singer Dave Meniketti notes - and they announce to plan a really nice long show.

The show of Y&T becomes not only long but also very varied. Here are a few really good craftsmen at the start, who live the rock for decades. Meniketti especially, of course, who satisfy the audience with endless variations of downright virtuosic leadguitar solos.

The more later the night gets, the more the band have fun obviously. The atmosphere is relaxed. Drawers are opened, and from hard rock to calm blues, from ballades to a drum solo brought out everything that has thus accumulated in the band's history and skill. And that's a lot.

Today's music scene seems to share in two kinds of bands: In those who - based on existing trails, rock and pop have rolled - look for new sounds and a developement of new structures. Or in those bands that stay true to the old tunes and do not peek for new musical horizons. Y&T is definitely one of the second kind. But this 70/80th years of rock are worth to celebrate it - and who could do that better than the originals of that time?
