What I first off consider worth mentioning is the crowd that had appeared in the sold out Markthalle. To be honest, I had expected solely “screech-teens” and their parents like it unfortunately always was the case at previous concerts of The Rasmus. To my positive surprise I, however, could find that since the “Dead letters” tour some things had changed. Besides the just mentioned obligatory The Rasmus screechers the majority of the attendants were female but as far as I can say only 40% were under 20 years and there was even a small but not to be scoffed at minority of boys and men respectively. Unfortunately, you couldn’t see that at the entrance because the running and screaming was annoying like at their previous tour or at any HIM concert.

The concert was a success. The support Deep Insight, who miraculously also hailed from Finland, had exactly the right audience even though their rock was a notch more snottier than I had expected from a The Rasmus support band. A real nice surprise! You should keep an eye on this young band!

After an extra-long stage reconstructing break which lasted about half an hour, Lauri Ylönen and his cohorts eventually lined up and this time were able to convince totally. Light, sound, stage…there was nothing to complain about. The choice of the songs contained all the hits that are popular in Germany and songs that are considered to be future hits. Here the crowd compensated the pesky scream assault from the entrance by singing along to every song, on-key and off-key.

“Funeral Song”, “Chill” and “F-F-Falling” was presented by the band in the middle of the 90-minute set as an acoustic performance and the next single “Sail Away” will also make it to the top if it was up to the crowd in Hamburg.
