A few years ago the Rock-Hard people from Dortmund already chose the 300 best metal records of all time in their issue. That ranking extended by 200 positions (about one half consisting of classics that were released in the meantime) and some short biographies is now published as a book. The concept stayed the same: To every album there is a review with partly nice anecdotes from the authors. Just about everything under the sun was successfully included in the ranking from scurrile underground act to megaseller, from bluesrock to blackmetal. But if that really can serve as a guide for setting up your own collection is, mainly regarding the personal taste in music, a matter of opinion. For sifting through and discovering the book is suitable in any case especially because it is easy to read and entertainingly written.
