Just two years after their 14th studio album, “Straight out of Hell”, and although the band played a lot of concerts and went on tours in the meantime, Helloween found time to release their 15th album. Their aim was to go back to the roots and seize the feeling of the early stuff without simply copying it and without ignoring the more modern stuff. And the band did quite well! The title track, “Stay Crazy”, “Lost in America”, “Creatures in Heaven” and “If God loves Rock´n´Roll” have the typical “happy, happy Helloween” melodies. In addition, there are two more great songs, which sound a bit more modern: “Heroes” and the slower “Like Everybody Else”.
But nevertheless, I am not totally satisfied: Some of the tracks get boring quite fast (like “Stay Crazy” or “Russian Roulé”) or they don´t really work at all (actually the tracks not mentioned yet). Also a bit more variation in terms of pace and sound would have been nice because the absolute majority of the stuff sounds similar. All in all, there are six great songs, a quite good ratio, but actually not good enough for a band like Helloween.
