Film Bilder is a company that produces independent short animations for adult audiences. Whit this they want to ensure that the film makers have full control and artistic freedom when making movies. No-one tells them what or how to do it, so they can be more daring and radical.
At least this is the theory, and I have to admit that this approach has produced some nice works on the two DVD compilations called simply Film Bilder BOX Vol. 1 & 2. The concept of full artistic freedom sounds always a bit scary to mainstream movie viewers, such as myself, but the ten movies on these DVDs have a good balance between entertainment and visionary approach to film making. There´s five films on each DVD made by seven directors (well, one of them is a two director team) with everything from 3D computer animation to old fashion drawn animation and clay animation with storylines from the more arty psychedelia to almost pure comedy. For those more aware of the genre the directors are Gil Alkabetz, Thomas Meyer-Hermann (2), Andreas Hykade (2), Daniel Nocke (2), Phil Mulloy, Louis Zoller and Alain Gagnol/Jean-Loup Felicioli.
Don´t want to ruin any of the films by going to much in detail into the plots, but if this sounds interesting you should check out the website www.filmbilder.de. There you can also order the DVDs.
