I had never thought that Hardcore Punk could be mentioned with the adjectives “melodic” or “catchy” in the same sentence, or even be described with those. But this is exactly how Modern Life Is War from Iowa, USA , sound on their third output – a wild mix of aggression, anger, rough and heavy riffs, but still spiced with groove and tunes, plus those philosophic lyrics, and this sophisticated cover artwork – therefore simply cool. Metal-Elements with a touch of Rap, a bit like Kid Rock is doing it, only here it sounds much better, e. g. the opener “Useless Generation” and “These Mad Dogs Of Glory”. Great is also the title track, “Stagger Lee” and “Pendulum”. No, the whole CD as such.
The only bad thing – the short playing time. I want more!
