France, the home country of SIKH, is not exactly known for its great rock music, apart from maybe Gojira. With their second album “One More Piece” SIKH wants to change that but they succeed only partly. The songs are catchy and they do rock but they have written “major label” (Sony BMG) all over them – and you are immediately reminded of Korn, Disturbed and others. Especially at the beginning of the record everything sounds quite similar, a bit “dated” and, most of all, pretty radio-friendly – they don’t get too much out of their comfort zone – somehow most of the songs sound strangely familiar… Towards the end, though, there’s a little bit more experimenting. Maybe that’s where the band should start when writing the next record. Otherwise it’s a quite ok and solid rock record but certainly neither innovative nor life-changing.
