He became famous as singer of the Swiss Hard Rock band Shakra between 2002 – 2009 - Mark Fox. After 2 years of silence he is back in 2012 which also named the album (“2012” - see STALKER Review). This evening celebrates the debut album release at Solothurn Kofmehl club.
As I used the chance to interview Mr Fox (which you can read soon), I was at the to me previously unknown club early. Kofmehl is located in the center of the Solothurn industrial area, the club can host about 800 people – quite big with a big stage. Yet it´s not so comfortable, the hall is way too dark before and after the show. There´s also a gallery which is reserved vor Fox guests exclusively on this evening. It should have started at 21.15 but Fox stormed on stage earlier due to the situaton – as Mark put it - “Fullhouse”! This is exactly how it felt, the audience was sqeezing forward and it was incredibly hot. The club´s air conditioning could be improved, too... They opened with the first track on the album, “Problem Child”; this pretty fast song appealed to the audience and those small pyro effects during the gig provided some more WOW moments.
Bass player Tony Castell was obviously enjoying the gig, perhaps also because of those recurring “Tony,Tony,Tony” chants from the audience. Also Gitarrhero Franky Fersino convinced fully; Reto Hirsch wasn´t on drums this time, but his replacement Fabio. Fox delivered a solid gig and Mark proved, that he has not forgotten anything during those 2 years of absence. Vocally top, he is far from being a 08/15 singer, he indeed has this special appeal.
Definitely a great start of this new band career, and hopefully they make it big. It´s obvious they really want it and are working hard to make it happen.
Summary: Concert top – club unfortunately a flop! Way too dark and hot, also stage lights and sound could have been better. And no photo pit, therefore those photos is all I got – no way I try to get to the front row under these circumstances!
