"Doors Open 8 pm, Showtime of the first band 9 pm": That`s the rule on weekends at "Bar Loose" but tonight, something seemed to go wrong as the doors downstairs open at 9.30 pm; thereby it`s getting very crowded upstairs. The Doors (!) are played to lift everyone`s spirits, thus "Bar Loose" shows a sense of humour. It fits, it works and less than 10 minutes later, the first band hits the stage...

… which is called Alexander in Paris although is in fact from the Finnish town Raahe; and it knows how to make the crowd dance right away with the opener "Don`t Let It Die". But is it really necessary to keep this huge "safety distance" to the stage?!? Singer Christian Alexander disagrees about it and invites the audience to come closer. The crowd accepts the invitation immediately and receives songs like "Man vs. Kid", "Sparing Some Light" and "Red & Blue" in return. A mix of Folk, Rock, Country and Alternative that brings some summer feeling in the drab monotony of everyday life, especially now in the dark, cold winter...

Paradoxically, the previous "safety distance" reappears when Moses Hazy are entering, but the quintet around frontman Riku Rousu doesn`t pay that much attention to it. It seems that they are busy enough with their performance, which includes conventional instruments like electric guitar, bass, drums and keyboard also a saxophone, a tambourine and an acoustic guitar. And the lyrics? Well, some social criticism here and there. Something that doesn`t seem to be widespread in Finland; all the more it pleases me. If the rest of the audience would agree with me is hard to say. It`s still crowded but no-one is dancing anymore. Maybe it`s considered as inappropriate to dance to songs like "Something You Ate" and "Better Beware" but there are more optimistic compositions such as "Ms. Strange" as well...?!?

A successful concert evening needs an active audience; a fact we are noticing repeatedly these days but just during the headliner, it`s rather stiff as a poker. It`s a pity as the band has given their best, but at least the Finnish rock magazine "Rumba" appreciated the men from Oulu and who have been awarded "The Best Live Band in Finland" back in 2007...
