Does anyone still remember Guano Apes? The band from Göttingen who was quite successful with their mix of rap and rock in the end of the 90´s? Kontrust from Austria pick up where the Guano Apes left off for good reasons. The fact that the album was already released in 2005 is not a good enough excuse for this rubbish. And when one thanks German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier in the thank you notes then you know caution is advised. There are female and male singing parts which even remind of Lacuna Coil, and as with the Italians the male rap attempts are beyond contempt and lead every half-decent song into ruin. The only thing that makes the band stand out is the multilingualism of the songs – thus there are titles in German, Polish (native tongue of the singer), French and of course also English. However, East European singers are at least since Die Happy nothing extraordinary any more. We!come Home?? It rather makes you want to be a runaway and with the threat in the booklet “This record is just the beginning” you get downright scared to death. Avoid!
