The first impression of this young German band is already a very good one. ALEV, which means "flame" in Turkish language, provide an energetic mixture of Rock, Alternative and Metal, and the female voice provokes comparisons with Evanescence or the Cranberries. Alex Janzen, the lead singer, has an excellent distinctive voice that masters both powerful rock anthems as well as soft, catchy ballad-like songs. The band has already achieved much on their own, they rocked to the top of the German alternative charts without large ad campaigns, convincing their fans only with their powerful music and their numerous live gigs in small clubs, but also performing at numerous festivals throughout Europe. Their new second CD as a whole is catchy, hypnotic and definitely won´t leave you unimpressed. It is easy to imagine that ALEV also set their live audiences, quite literally, "on fire" and to follow Guano Apes´ footsteps.
